Our holiday was relaxing, low-key, and (I have to admit) a million times better than last year.  Tommy was so much more in tune with what is going on around him which made for lots of laughter and nice long naps!

We enjoyed a lot of simple family time.  We spent lazy afternoons at the park, did a lot of snuggling, and a lot of laughing.

I made the hilarious (and probably slightly painful) mistake of not putting Tommy in his Christmas outfit until 20 minutes prior to takeoff for church and let’s just say the stride was a bit tight.  Poor little love.  Standing was a breeze, but when he had to bend in any way, shape, or form…it was a tight squeeze.

We were so excited to discover Tommy will have a new little man in the family!  My sister and her husband are expecting their second child in May and we couldn’t be more excited for his arrival.  They opened an envelope on Christmas Day and made a precious little shirt for their daughter to wear to make the big reveal.

Sister was ready to get the show on the road! Yea, yea, yea, enough about my little brother.

Somebody got some new “squeaky” kicks.  It’s the best of both worlds.  They sport the finest University logo and annoy the hell out of anyone within a 50 foot radius.  My ears hear “Boomer, Sooner” but Rob’s ears seem to hear nails on a chalk board.  Tough cookies Rob.  Squeak away my little Sooner.

After our Christmas morning with my family and a nice, long nap, we were off to be with Rob’s family for a Christmas afternoon.  Ho, Ho, HORSE! Tommy loves his new rocking horse.  Durango is his name and rockin’ is his game.  Uncle Matthew loved some quality time with Mr. T.

Just two short work days later and we were off again to ring in the new year at the beautiful Eagle’s Nest Ranch.

The morning fog was spectacular and we were lucky enough to have mild weather which made for an absolutely perfect day.

Tommy and I spent a lot of time outside laying in the grass with the wind blowing through our hair and the sun beaming down on those golden, curly locks.

After some thought I think I’ve found the most reasonable and achievable resolutions for me…just a couple of things I want to work on and strive to achieve in life…

In 2012, I am going to strive to be more present. I’m going to stop and listen to my husband, my heart, my friends, and my family.  I’m going to try to disconnect and write more.  I’m going to try to enjoy cooking.  I’m going to try to enjoy cooking.  I WILL LEARN TO COOK, I WILL LEARN TO COOK! I’ll keep you posted on that one.

I want to continue to learn photography and capture the true essence of real life.  I want to sit on the porch with friends and enjoy a glass of wine and the beautiful view below.

And when I’m fed up and tired and frustrated I will look at this picture and laugh…I share your sentiments little man. Every day’s a new day.

Here’s to a new year…and here’s to me putting my resolution in writing.
